Work Backwards To Discover The Legacy You Want To Leave Behind
Most of us have seen the horror that Scrooge goes through in one of the many versions of Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" but which character are you?
Who are you at this moment in time? How would you be remembered if you stopped breathing right now?
Yes, it's morbid, but this is a wicked way to put things in perspective and clarify what is actually important to you and what doesn't actually matter to you as much as you may think.
So imagine it, your funeral. You have lived 124 amazing world-changing years. Who are your friends, who are your true family and what will they say? Imagine that you have lived your whole life in the form of your super self. Start with the end in mind.
How would you like to be remembered? What would you have achieved? What have you meant to people? What have you changed, left behind? What impact did you make on people's lives?
TASK:
Time to grab a piece of paper and create a verbal epitaph. Write a script from three perspectives to be read at your funeral.
- One is from your family.
- One is from your friends.
- One is from your work colleagues.
Write down as much as you can. Be bold. Be brave. We all deserve to have a legacy as big as a rock star's.
