MendMaker Exercise: Session written and explained by your coach Claire Anstey

Release The Shit

Task

Grab 2 sheets of paper and your pen. On one piece of paper, list all of the things that are rubbish in your life - go for it, have a good old moan, use two sheets if you need too.

On the other hand, write a list of all the good stuff you have going on right now, everything, the people, the places, the things that are important, the things that make you feel good, it all goes down.

When you have finished, place the two pieces of paper side by side and ask yourself "Which list makes me feel good, which could I do without in my life?

When you have decided which list is best, put it in your pocket, pants or bra to keep it safe, the good stuff in your life is important just like you, never forget it and keep reading it every time you have a crap moment, today and for the rest of the month.

Do you find it far too easy to focus on what you don't like in our life?

This will remind you of all the good things you already have.

As for the other list, show it what you think of it, use it to wipe your arse, chuck it down the bag and let its shitness disappear. You will feel a great sense of satisfaction from actually destroying your list.

Do this exercise as often as you want to. It is great for when you are having a bad day at the office.

Tip: Rewrite the positive list on an email and save it in your drafts, keep looking at it whilst at work or when checking your emails.
